Community Management Wiki

The Big Show is a phenomenon where companies will work for many months on something behind closed doors before announcing it to the public. This is the way companies have worked for decades. This behaviour negatively impacts the ability of a community to grow outside your walls - project members are assigned to "secret" projects & interact less with the community, and the end result is a big code drop which has not had public peer review and wasn't listed on any roadmap before its announcement, resulting in people outside your company feeling like second class citizens.
