Stack Overflow was founded in 2008 by Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky (both prominent bloggers who post about the profession of software development.)

- Authentication/identity management is decentralized by using OpenID
- "Community wiki" option for questions/answers doesn't earn authors reputation points - particularly used on "subjective" questions
